ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Dunhuang moxibustion method for the treatment of children with acute diarrhea in spleen deficiency type. MethodsA total of 200 children with acute diarrhea in spleen deficiency type were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into control group or observation group according to the random number table method, with 100 cases in each group. The control group received routine therapy, based on which the observation group received Dunhuang moxibustion method for treatment. The pre- and post-treatment Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom score, Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) 4.0 score, and diarrhea cessation time, effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine symptoms improvements, and occurrence of adverse reactions during treatment were compared between the two groups. ResultsAfter treatment, the diarrhea cessation time in the observation group was shorter, and total effective rate of Traditional Chinese Medicine symptoms improvements was higher than that in the control group, whereas the Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom score of both groups was decreased as compared with before treatment, scores of PedsQL 4.0 in various dimensions and total score of PedsQL 4.0 in the both groups were higher as compared with before treatment, and the observation group exhibited superior aforesaid indices to compared with the control group (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence rate of adverse reactions during treatment between the two groups (P>0.05). ConclusionEmploying Dunhuang moxibustion method on the basis of routine therapy for the treatment of children with acute diarrhea in spleen deficiency type exerts a relatively favorable effect, which can better alleviate diarrhea symptoms of children, shorten diarrhea cessation time, ameliorate quality of life, and is safe and reliable.
