ObjectiveTo investigate the mRNA expressions of endoplasmic reticulum ribosome-binding protein 1 (RRBP1) and laminin subunit beta 3 (LAMB3) in gastric cancerous tissues and their relations with clinicopathological features and prognosis in patients. MethodsSpecimens of gastric cancerous and paracancerous tissues among 373 patients with gastric cancer were collected. The mRNA expressions of RRBP1 and LAMB3 in gastric cancerous and paracancerous tissues were detected by employing the real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR. The relation of RRBP1 and LAMB3 mRNA expressions with clinicopathological features of patients with gastric cancer was analyzed. The survival curve was drawn to analyze the relation of RRBP1 and LAMB3 mRNA expressions in gastric cancerous tissues with prognosis of patients. The COX regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors for prognosis of patients with gastric cancer. ResultsCompared with paracancerous tissues, the mRNA expressions of RRBP1 and LAMB3 in gastric cancerous tissues were elevated (P<0.05). Gastric cancer patients with tumor diameter≥4 cm, low- or undifferentiated differentiation degree, invasion depth in T3-T4, the occurrence of lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis obtained a higher mRNA expression of RRBP1 (P<0.05); moreover, gastric cancer patients with low- or undifferentiated differentiation degree, invasion depth in T3-T4, the occurrence of lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis obtained a higher mRNA expression of LAMB3 (P<0.05). The three-year survival rates of the RRBP1 high expression group and the LAMB3 high expression group were lower than those of the RRBP1 low expression group and the LAMB3 low expression group (P<0.05). The results of COX regression analysis revealed that high expressions of RRBP1 and LAMB3 mRNA, low- or undifferentiated differentiation degree, invasion depth in T3-T4, and the occurrence of lymph node metastasis were the independent risk factors for affecting prognosis of patients with gastric cancer (P<0.05).ConclusionRRBP1 and LAMB3 mRNA are highly expressed in gastric cancerous tissues, and are closely related to clinicopathological features and prognosis of patients.
