Objective To explore the analgesic effect of hot compress with soybean bag combined with massage at the Hegu (LI4) acupoint during active stage of labor. Methods A total of 100 primiparas were selected as the research subjects, and they were randomly divided into control group or observation group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group received comprehensive intervention method, including psychological therapy, position management, and Lamaze breathing method, based on which the observation group received hot compress with soybean bag combined with massage at the Hegu (LI4) acupoint during active stage of labor. Analgesic effect, proportions of vaginal delivery and transfer to Caesarean section, time between the active stage and delivery of fetus in puerperae with vaginal delivery, and vaginal bleeding volume were compared between the two groups. Results Puerperae of the observation group obtained less pain degree as compared with the control group, a higher proportion of vaginal delivery as compared with the control group, and shorter or less time between the active stage and delivery of fetus in puerperae with vaginal delivery and vaginal bleeding volume as compared with the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Based on psychological therapy, position management, Lamaze breathing method, in the active stage of labor supplemented with hot compress of soybean bag combined with massage at Hegu (LI4) acupoint can relieve the pain of primiparas, elevate rate of natural delivery, shorten the labor process and reduce the postpartum bleeding volume.
