Objective To systematically evaluate the effect of music therapy on postoperative pain management in children. Methods Relevant literature related to music therapy on postoperative pain management in children was collected by retrieving the databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, VIP, Chinese Biomedical Literature Service System, PubMed, Web of Science, and Medline. After screening, data extracting and quality evaluation of enrolled literature, the RevMan 5.3 software was used to perform Meta⁃analysis. Results A total of 9 randomized controlled trials were enrolled. The results of Meta⁃analysis revealed that compared with routine nursing, the Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability scale score, Wong⁃Baker Faces Pain Scale score, heart rate, and systolic blood pressure were lower when employing music therapy (P<0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference in arterial oxygen saturation between the two nursing methods (P>0.05). Conclusion Music therapy can relieve pain after pediatric surgery, and decrease heart rate and systolic blood pressure; however, it has no obvious improvement effect on arterial oxygen saturation.
