ObjectiveTo explore the syndrome characteristics of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and prescriptions rules of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy in Guangxi region based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Computing System. MethodsLiterature related to Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of PCOS from 2013 to 2023 was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP, and China Science Periodical Database, and a Traditional Chinese Medicine database was established. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Computing System (V3.5) was used to statistically analyze syndrome characteristics, and property, flavor, meridians and efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicinal materials, as well as to perform the association rule analysis and cluster analysis. ResultsA total of 51 literature was enrolled, obtaining 10 categories of syndromes, and the frequency from high to low was kidney deficiency, phlegm-dampness block, blood stasis, spleen deficiency, liver depression, phlegm block, qi stagnation, damp accumulation, turbid toxicity, and qi deficiency. A total of 102 flavors of Traditional Chinese Medicines were concerned, four properties of herbs were mainly warm and moderate, five flavors of herbs were mainly sweet, bitter and acrid, meridians were mainly liver meridian, spleen meridian and renal meridian, and efficacy was mainly category of reinforcing deficiency, followed by category of promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis. The results of association rule analysis revealed that there were 6 categories of medication modes of common use drugs, and 4 association rules in total. The results of network topology indicated that drugs of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of PCOS were mainly Angelica sinensis, Poria cocos, Cuscutae semen, Chuanxiong rhizoma, Citrus reticulata. The results of cluster analysis presented that core drug combinations of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of PCOS were as follows: (1) Angelica sinensis, Poria cocos, Cuscutae semen, Chuanxiong rhizoma, and licorice, (2) Atractylodes lancea, Poria cocos, Cuscutae semen, Pinellia ternata, and Citrus reticulata, (3) Cuscutae semen, Angelica sinensis, Poria cocos, licorice, and Citrus reticulata. ConclusionPCOS patients in Guangxi region are mainly characterized by kidney deficiency, spleen deficiency, phlegm dampness, blood stasis, and liver depression. The main medications are categories of reinforcing deficiency, followed by categories of promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis. The basic prescriptions are Zuogui Pills, Siwu Decoction, Cangfu Daotan Pills, and Xiaoyao Powder.
