ObjectiveTo explore the development approaches to online continuing medical education based on the empirical analysis. MethodsMedical personnel from two Class Ⅲ Level A hospitals in a city of Guangxi were selected as the respondents of the survey, among whom a self-designed questionnaire survey was performed on the preference to select online continuing medical education activities. The multiple linear regression model was employed to analyze the influencing factors for the preference to select online continuing medical education activities, and the development approaches to online continuing medical education were explored based on the aforementioned influencing factors. ResultsA total of 349 questionnaires were recycled, with 341 valid questionnaires and an effective response rate of 97.7%, and 341 medical personnel were enrolled in this survey in total. Medical personnel exhibited a relatively high level of the preference to select online continuing medical education activities, scoring 4.34±0.67 and yielding a scoring rate of 86.8%. Organization arrangement, interactivity, the role in improvement of professional skills, and standardization of training were the influencing factors for medical personnel′s preference to select online continuing medical education activities (P<0.05). ConclusionOnline continuing medical education is a driving force for developing continuing medical education digitization in the new era. It is suggested to intensify the planning, organization and connotation construction of online continuing medical education activities, lead education model innovation through multi-field technological integration, integrate excellent continuing medical education resources, standardize the management of online continuing medical education, and further promote the reform and improvement of continuing medical education, thus bolstering the development of medical and health services at a high-quality level.
